I was commissioned by Dublin City Council to redesign The Red Stables in St. Annes Park. The brief was to design residential apartments and a community centre for people living with dementia. My concept for this project is "Human Connection", one problem people with dementia face in hospice care is the lack of a sense of belonging and not feeling connected to their surroundings. The elderly living with dementia have very specific needs and I have cared for them by implementing Universal Design for Dementia Friendly Dwellings and the sustainable urban housing standards. For the mood I wanted to created a comfortable and familiar atmosphere throughout the design.
